Kenmare
The small town of Kenmare (An Neidin Gaeilge) is located in south of Kerry County, in Ireland, with 1701 inhabitants (2006). It is strongly influenced by tourism and a good base to visit the Iveragh Peninsula (Ring of Kerry) and Beara. The modern city was founded in 1670 by Sir William Petty.
The three main streets form a triangle which represents the centre of the city: William Street (now Main Street), Henry Street (named after the son of Williams) and Shelbourne Street.
On the outskirts, on the banks of the river lies the Finnihy Druid’s Circle, a circle of 15 stones and a dolmen in the center. This stone circle is one of the most famous in this region of Ireland.
