AIRPORT

Oslo Airport (OSL) has one terminal and is located 50 km north of the city. There is a multi-storey car park with 4000 spaces and direct access to the terminal and an outdoor car parking immediately adjacent. 

Car rental is available in the Arrivals area, just close to the railway station (Avis, Budget, Sixt, Europcar and Hertz).

There are bus and rail services connecting  the airport to the city centre.

Munch Museum

This important museum houses the most extensive collection of Edvard Munch.

National Gallery (Nasjonalgalleriet)

The Norwegian National Gallery houses important art collections with precious works by the best international artists, including Gauguin, Picasso, Cezanne, El Greco. There are also some important works by Edvard Munch.

Ibsen Museum

This museum represents a tribute to Norway's most famous poet, Henrik Ibsen. The whole house where the poet and his wife lived are open to the visitors, only by guided tour.

Oslo City Hall (Oslo Radhus)

This building was inaugurated in 1950 and is located on the waterfront overlooking the fjord. The interiors are enriched with some colourful frescos and murals. The Nobel Peace Prize is presented there.

Oslo Cathedral (Oslo Domkirke)

The cathedral is in Baroque style but it has been renovated in more than one occasion. Now it contains some original features, dating back to the 17th century: altar, pulpit and font.

SHOPPING

Among Norwegian most appreciated handcrafts there are silversmiths and potteries. Other traditional things include printed textiles, woven articles, knitwear, woodcarving, silver, enamel, pewter, glass and porcelain.

 

NIGHTLIFE

The most popular restaurants, theatres and clubs are concentrated in the city centre, as well as cinemas and live music venues. In particular, Oslo's nightlife main centres are on the Aker Brygge waterside area and in the Majorstua district.

EVENTS

Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony

It is held every year in December  in Oslo City Hall. Usually the day after the ceremony, numerous celebrities perform at a Nobel Peace Prize Concert which is broadcast by television channels around the world.

All the churches and the cathedral of Oslo are interested in this charming festival, with musical performances and national and international choirs.
