ATTRACTIONS

Schönbrunn Palace

This wonderful palce was the residence of the Hasburgs in the 18th and 19th centuries. It consists of 1441 rooms, 40 of them are opened to visitors. The palace is surrounded by a magnificent garden included with the palace itself in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Stephansdom (St. Stephen's Cathedral)

This magnificent cathedral was built from the 12th to the 15th centuries, and almost completely restored after the damages of the World War II.

Its characteristic coloured roof tiles represent a landmark of the city.

Prater

The Prater is the green lung of Wien, a wide woodden park worldfamous for its fairground and the location of one of Vienna's icons, the century-old Riesenrad (Ferris Wheel).

This Ferris Wheel was constructed in 1897 and maintains all its old charm.

Kunsthistorisches Museum

This is one of the most important Austrian museums. It represents an example of Friedensreich Hundertwasser's artistic vision.

KunstHausWien (Wien Art House)

This museum is housed in a charming building that was built to contain the Imperial Hasburg art collections. The museum has important Egyptian-Oriental and Coin collections and an exhibition of famous painters, including Rembrandt, Durer, Raphael, Rubens and Brueghels.

NIGHTLIFE

The most popular and trendy bars and clubs in Wien are clustered in the old Jewish district, in an area around Ruprechtskirche known as the Bermuda Dreieck (Bermuda Triangle). Other important areas for nightlife are around Spittelberg, Amerlinghaus and in the Fourth District, near the Naschmarkt.

Wien International Film Festival
